DOCUMENTATION: APPENDICES

This survey was conducted via survey monkey at the beginning of the semester in order to establish a basic understanding of the audiences needs and goals in the problem area. The questions which were included on the survey are listed at the left. Below are the responses which were recorded.

01: 18/20 participants were ages 18-24.

02: 15/20 participants identified themselves as female.

03: 16/20 participants were from the greater Indianapolis area.

04: 14/20 participants do recycle.

05: 14/20 participants know what materials they can recycle where they live.

06: 10/20 participants throw away items if they do not know whether they are recyclable, 6 search online, and 4 will recycle them either way.

07: 15/20 participants reuse some items that could be thrown away, such as mason jars, paper scraps and grocery bags.

08: 14/20 participants listed their most commonly used disposable items were food and drink containers.

Appendix A

This case study documents the research done in a semester-long group project. The goal of the project was to increase knowledge of what, where, and how to recycle in Ball Hall, a freshman residence hall at IUPUI. Throughout the 16-week semester, we learned about design research and facilitated design sessions. This research was the foundation for my capstone project.

Appendix C: Prototype 01

The first prototype was sketched using paper, markers, and pencils to quickly create a layout and organize the information that was to be included in the site.

Appendix D

The second prototype had a consistent printed header and was drawn using colored markers.

Appendix D: Prototype 02

Appendix E

The third prototype was a digital wireframe created in Illustrator. This prototype focused on the placement and functionality of the search and filter functions.

Appendix F: Prototype 04

The fourth prototye (second digital wireframe) eliminated the redundant search function and tested a few different result and filtering layouts.

Working from the digital wireframe and style tile, this mockup was created in Illustrator and tested using InVision.
